Box Score WASHINGTON, DC – Rowan University defeated Whittier College, 3-0 in non-conference action in our nation's capital on Friday. Rowan scored a goal in the first half and two in the second to earn the victory.

Midfielder Chelsea Pitonyak (jr., Yardville, NJ/Steinart) started the scoring for the Profs at 38:18. She took a cross from forward Erica Suhl (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) in the box and got it past Poets' goalkeeper Alexi Cruz. The game went to the breakf with Rowan leading 1-0. The Profs had 11 shots in the first half to Whittier's two.

The scoring started early after the intermission as midfielder Victoria Camera (jr., Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton W.) deposited a cross from back Kayla Leahy (jr., Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley (NY)) a little more than two minutes into the second stanza. Forward Tiffany Kelly (so., Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) scored Rowan's third goal at 61:52. She dribbled down the left side and beat the goalie for a 3-0 lead.

Goalkeeper Carleigh Trivino (fr. Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) made two saves for her third shutout. Cruz stopped 10 shots. Rowan is now 5-1, while Whittier is 0-4.

Rowan will return to action on Tuesday, September 17 at home against Penn State-Berks at 7 p.m.
