GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s track and field team competed on the first day of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Saturday. The conference championships are being held at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.
Jon Sewnig (so. Yardville, NJ/Notre Dame) was the winner in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 33:25.89. Jeff Tauriello (jr. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) placed third in the 10,000 meter run (33:49.98). In the javelin, Steven Iafrate (jr. Closter, NJ/Demarest) finished fifth with a season best throw of 185’ 9” (56.61 meters), which was a Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifier. Joe Kelly (fr. Pitman, NJ/Pitman) came in ninth (172' 11”, 52.71 meters).
Adam Ross (fr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) took ninth in the 10,000 meters (35:00.35) while Raj Singh (so. Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany Hills) finished 10th (35:25.30) and Timothy Reardon (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.), 13th (38:10.50).
After the first day, Ramapo is in the lead with 37 points. The College of New Jersey and Richard Stockton College are second (32) and third (23), respectively. Rowan (20), Rutgers-Newark (14), Rutgers-Camden (13), Farmingdale State College (10) and Montclair State University (7) round out the team standings.
The NJAC Championships continue on Sunday, May 5 at 10 a.m at Rowan.
