PRINCETON, NJ – The Rowan University men’s track and field team competed at the Sam Howell Invitational on Saturday. The two-day meet with Division I, II and III schools was held at Princeton University.
The 4x400 meter relay with Josh McGriff (sr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Taylor Purdue (sr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.), Ali Ejaz (sr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) and Demetrius Rooks (sr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) took third place in 3:14.89. The 4x100 meter relay finished fourth with a season best time of 41.70. The 4x100 included Brandon Taylor (sr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown), Tyler Coulbourn (fr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.), Frank Rubino (fr. Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) and Ejaz.
Rooks captured second (52.12) in the 400 meter hurdles. Ejaz ran 21.93 and was eighth in the 200 meters. Joe Mineo (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) was eighth in the high jump with a height of 6’ 2.25” (1.89 meters). Taylor had a ninth place (11.16) in the 100 meters.
Rubino tied for 12th in the long jump with a leap of 19’ 9” (6.02 meters). Purdue came in 15th (49.79) in the 400 meters and McGriff was 27th (50.93). Ethan Wolmark (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) finished 18th (4:03.16) in the 1500 meters division 2 race.
Next week, Rowan travels to West Chester, PA on Saturday, April 13 for the West Chester University Collegiate Invitational at 10 a.m.
