CHESTER, PA – The Rowan University men’s track and field team traveled to Widener University for the final day of the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday.
Brandon Taylor (sr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) won the 100 meters in 10.89 and was third (22.50) in the 200 meters. Ali Ejaz (sr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) ran 21.99 in the 200 meters for first place. Demetrius Rooks (sr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) had a winning time of 52.28 in the 400 meter hurdles. Frank Rubino (fr. Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) took first in the long jump with 21’ 6” (6.55 meters).
Rowan won the 4x100 meter relay in 41.87 with Taylor, Tyler Coulbourn (fr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.), Rubino and Ejaz. The 4x400 meter relay took second place with a time of 3:26.76. The 4x400 included Josh McGriff (sr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Will Alston (sr. Matawan, NJ/Matawan Reg.), Tyray Forte (fr. Plainfield, NJ/Plainfield) and Dave Quimby (so. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape).
Joe Mineo (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) finished third in the high jump with a height of 5’ 11.5” (1.82 meters). Taylor Purdue (sr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) took fourth (50.20) in the 400 meters. Coulbourn had fourth places in the 100 (11.17) and 200 (22.73) meters. Glenn Kohles (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) came in fourth in the shot put with 46’ 5.5” (14.16 meters) followed by Darrell Corbin (so. Logan Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.), fifth (45’ 3”, 13.79 meters) and Dalton Trebow (fr. New Egypt, NJ/Egypt), 11th (38’ 5”, 11.71 meters).
Quimby had a sixth place (1:57.56) in the 800 meters. In the 400 meter hurdles, Mike Parrillo (fr. Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) finished sixth (57.46) and Jameer Roberts (fr. Camden, NJ/Highland Reg.) was 13th (1:01.11). Brendan Dugan (fr. Westfield, NJ/Westfield) came in seventh (11.34) in the 100 meters and 18th (23.43) in the 200 meters.
Alston finished 10th (50.96) in the 400 meters and 14th (23.20) in the 200 meters. Joe Kelly (fr. Pitman, NJ/Pitman) took 10th in the javelin with a throw of 171’ 10” (52.38 meters). Mike Lewis (so. Glen Mills, PA/Downingtown W.) was 14th (2:01.40) in the 800 meters and 26th (4:10.24) in the 1500 meters. Ethan Wolmark (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) came in 15th (4:04.69) in the 1500 meters and he was 20th (2:02.54) in the 800 meters.
Rowan will compete at the Sam Howell Invitational next week on Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6 at Princeton University.
