Men's Indoor Track Finishes Third At NJAC Championships

NEW YORK, NY – The Rowan University men’s indoor track team finished third at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Friday.  The conference championships were held at the Armory.

The Profs had four individual conference champions.  Ali Ejaz (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) won the 200 meters with a time of 21.98.  Ethan Wolmark (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) came in first (8:52.95) in the 3000 meters while Jon Sewnig (so. Yardville, NJ/Notre Dame) was the winner (15:21.11) in the 5000 meters.  Glenn Kohles (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) took first in the shot put with a toss of 48’ 7.5” (14.82 meters). 

Rowan had third places in the 4x400 (3:23.61) and 4x800 (8:15.90) meter relays.  The 4x400 included Taylor Purdue (sr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.), Ejaz, Will Alston (sr. Matawan, NJ/Matawan Reg.) and Mike Parrillo (fr. Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park).  Jameer Roberts (fr. Camden, NJ/Highland Reg.), Jesse Spector (so. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills), Dave Quimby (so. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Mike Lewis (so. Glen Mills, PA/Downingtown W.) made up the 4x800.  

The 4x200 meter relay with Ejaz, Brendan Dugan (fr. Westfield, NJ/Westfield), Tyler Coulbourn (fr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and Brandon Taylor (sr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) came in fourth (1:33.58).  Lewis, Parrillo, Teague Brody-Carney (so. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) and Dan Murray (fr. Seaville, NJ/Ocean City) were on the fourth place (11:06.02) distance medley relay. 

Mike Carotenuto (sr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) ran 4:19.12 in the one mile for second place.  Joe Mineo (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) took second in the high jump with a height of 6’ 4” (1.93 meters).  Frank Rubino (fr. Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) came in second in the long jump with 21’ 11” (6.68 meters).  He was also fifth (42’ 5.25”, 12.93 meters) in the triple jump.   

Taylor finished third (7.13) in the 60 meter dash and Marcus Rawls (jr. North Brunswick, NJ/Florence Twp. Mem.) was fifth (7.19).  Purdue had a third place (49.64) in the 400 meters.  In the 5000 meters, Jeff Tauriello (jr. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) took third (15:42.58) followed by Tim Dole (fr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.), fourth (15:43.01). 

Quimby came in fifth (1:58.69) in the 800 meters.  Spector finished seventh (4:28.57) in the one mile.  Dalton Trembow (fr. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) took sixth in the shot put with 41’ 3.75” (12.59 meters) and Jason Jenkins (so. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) was eighth (39’ 7.25”, 12.07 meters).  Alston was 10th (50.89) in the 400 meters while Roberts took 11th (2:02.71) in the 800 meters.    

Next week, Rowan will compete at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday, March 1 and 2 at the Armory.
