NEW YORK, NY – The Rowan University men’s indoor track team competed at the New York University Fastrack Challenge on Friday at the Armory.
The Profs’ 4x400 meter relay won in 3:22.74 with Taylor Purdue (sr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.), Ali Ejaz (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro), Will Alston (sr. Matawan, NJ/Matawan Reg.) and Josh McGriff (sr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.). The 4x200 meter relay took second (1:30.95) and the 4x800 meter relay was fourth (8:07.77). The 4x200 included Ejaz, Brendan Dugan (fr. Westfield, NJ/Westfield), Tyler Coulbourn (fr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and Brandon Taylor (sr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown). Mike Carotenuto (sr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.), Dave Quimby (so. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape), Jameer Roberts (fr. Camden, NJ/Highland Reg.) and Mike Lewis (so. Glen Mills, PA/Downingtown W.) were on the 4x800.
Marcus Rawls (jr. North Brunswick, N/North Brunswick) finished fourth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.06. Taylor came in fifth (7.10) and Coulbourn was sixth (7.17). Glenn Kohles (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 42’ 6.25” (12.96 meters) and Jason Jenkins (so. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) was sixth (39’ 8”, 12.09 meters). Lewis came in sixth (2:37.92) in the 1000 meters. Jon Sewnig (so. Yardville, NJ/Notre Dame) finished seventh (8:47.23) in the 3000 meters and Jeff Tauriello (jr. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) was 12th (9:00.80).
Alston had a sixth place (1:07.10) in the 500 meters followed by McGriff, eighth (1:07.66) and Mike Parrillo (fr. Whippany, NJ/Whippany), 11th (1:08.89). Joe Mineo (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) tied for sixth in the high jump with a height of 6’ 0.75” (1.85 meters). Carotenuto finished ninth (4:18.53) in the mile while Ethan Wolmark (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Jesse Spector (so. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) were 19th (4:27.35) and 23rd (4:30.52) respectively. Purdue came in 10th (50.04) in the 400 meters and Ejaz was 11th (50.21). Quimby finished 13th (1:59.00) in the 800 meters and Roberts was 15th (1:59.81).
Next week, Rowan returns to the Armory for the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships on Friday, February 22 at 11 a.m.
