Box Score HOBOKEN, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team defeated Stevens Institute of Technology, 4-1 on Wednesday evening.
Midfielder Marisa Marini (so. Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) scored two goals for the Profs. Forwards Amy McKeever (sr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) and Kellie Campbell (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) each contributed with one. Back Megan Traub (sr. Berkeley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) had the Ducks' goal.
Rowan led 2-0 after the first half. Marini had the first goal at 16:11 off a corner. Campbell shot from inside the top of the circle and Marini redirected the ball into the left side of the cage. The second goal came at 33:47. Forward Jenna Pressler (fr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) had a short pass in front of the Ducks' cage to Marini who hit the left post.
Traub's goal came on a penalty corner, which was inserted by forward Marguerite Chavez (sr. Oceanport, NJ/Shore Reg.). McKeever made the score 3-1 at 53:54 with an unassisted goal. Campbell had the final goal on a penalty stroke at 57:44.
The Profs improve to 7-5 overall while the Ducks have an 8-5 record. Rowan goalie Steph Colombo (sr. Moorestown, NJ/Camden Catholic) stopped 15 shots and Stevens goalie Emily Stukenborg (fr. Stockhom, NJ/Wallkill Valley Reg.) made nine saves.
Next, Rowan travels to conference opponent The College of New Jersey on Saturday, October 19 for a 5 p.m. game.
