Box Score MORRISVILLE, NY - Morrisville State College outscored Rowan University 34-7 over the final three quarters enroute to a 41-21 victory in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on October 12.

The Profs are now 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC, while the Mustangs now have an overall record of 3-2 and a 2-0 conference mark.

Rowan quarterback Paul Hamersma (so. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) was 17 of 34 for 178 yards. Running back Withler Marcelin (so. Ocean Twp., NJ/Ocean Twp) ran the ball 24 times for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while running back Matt Dortch (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) had 10 carries for 48 yards and one touchdown. Wideout Todd Guillaume (so. Irvington, NJ/Immaculate Conception) made six catches for 59 yards.

On the defense, linebacker Darren Dungee (so. Morristown, NJ/Morristown) collected 14 tackles, two for a loss (-12 yards) and recorded a sack. Defensive back Frank Ruopoli (sr. Jamesburg, NJ/Monroe Twp.) and lineman Chris Alvarez (jr. Cliffside Park, NJ/Cliffside Park) each tallied eight tackles. Alvarez also had a pass defense, two tackles for loss (-4 yards) and two sacks.

For Morrisville State, quarterback Lamar Johnson (jr. Ossining, NJ/Ossining) was 17 of 31 for 251 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball 27 times for 78 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Cristian Pena (so. Ridgewood, NJ/Enterprise) had 21 carries for 97 yards and one touchdown. Wideouts Josh Powell (jr. Yonkers, NY/Archbishop Stepinac) and Anthony Gray (so. Smallwood, NY/Monticello) each recorded five receptions for 100 and 31 yards respectively. Gray also scored a touchdown. Linebackers Travis French (sr. Newark Valley, NY/Newark Valley) and Delroy Young (jr. Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) along with defensive back Jeremy Steward (sr. Moravia, NY/Moravia) each tallied nine tackles.

The Mustangs scored first as Gray caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Johnson at the 11:35 mark. Rowan then tied the game at 7:50 on a five-yard touchdown run by Dortch. The Profs took the lead as Marcelin scored from three yards out with 4:59 to play in the first quarter. The drive was setup after an interception by defensive back John Albecker (Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp).

Morrsville State tied the game at 11:04 of the second when Johnson scored on a 43-yard run. Pena then recorded a 36-yard touchdown scamper for a 21-14 Mustang lead with 1:11 remaining on the clock in the first half.

Rowan made it 21-21 at 7:24 in the third on a one yard touchdown by Marcelin. Morrisville State responded as Johnson ran it in from one yard out with 3:34 left in the quarter.

The Mustangs extended their advantage to 34-21 on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Johnson to wide receiver Robert Clarke (jr. New York, NY/Douglas Academy) at the 14:28 mark of the fourth. Johnson scored the final points of the game at 1:18, running the ball five yards for a touchdown.

Rowan will return home for Homecoming on Saturday, October 19 as they host #11 Wesley College for a 2 p.m. kick-off.
