NEWARK, DE – The Rowan University men’s indoor track team competed at the Thomson Invitational on Saturday. The meet was held at the University of Delaware.
The Profs took second place in the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays with times of 3:29.16 and 8:21.37 respectively. The 4x400 meter relay included Ali Ejaz (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro), Josh McGriff (sr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Will Alston (sr. Matawan, NJ/Matawan Reg.) and Taylor Purdue (sr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.). Mike Carotenuto (sr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.), Jeff Tauriello (jr. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park), Mike Lewis (so. Glen Mills, PA/Downingtown W.) and Jameer Roberts (fr. Camden, NJ/Highland Reg.) were on the 4x800 meter relay.
Tauriello finished second (15:38.68) in the 5000 meters. Marcus Rawls (jr. North Brunswick, NJ/Florence Twp. Mem.) came in third (7.06) in the 60 meters and he tied for 13th (23.55) in the 200 meters. Joe Mineo (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had a height of 6’ 2” (1.88 meters) for fourth in the high jump. Glen Kohles (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 46’ 4.75” (14.14 meters). Ejaz had a fifth place (22.98) in the 200 meters. Carotenuto had a time of 4:23.16 in the one mile for fifth.
McGriff finished seventh (1:10.03) in the 500 meters while Alston and Mike Parrillo (fr. Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) were 11th (1:11.36) and 12th (1:11.83) respectively. Brandon Taylor (sr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) tied for seventh (7.22) in the 60 meters. In the 5000 meters, Ethan Wolmark (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) came in seventh (15:56.21) followed by Tim Dole (fr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.), eighth (15:56.25) and Raj Singh (so. Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany Hills), 11th (16:42.14). Roberts was 10th (2:03.26) in the 800 meters. Frank Rubino (fr. Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) took 11th place (19’ 1.25”, 5.82 meters) in the long jump. Jesse Spector (so. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) finished 13th (9:16.20) in the 3000 meters.
Next week, Rowan travels to Ursinus College on Saturday, February 2 for the Frank Colden Invitational at 9 a.m.
