Men's Indoor Track Finishes Third At Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University men’s indoor track team finished third among 17 teams at the Collegeville Classic on Friday evening.  The meet was hosted by Ursinus College.

The Profs compiled 75.5 points.  East Stroudsburg University was first with 117.5 points.  West Chester University totaled 80.5 points for second place.

The 4x200 meter relay of Ali Ejaz (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro), Brendan Dugan (fr. Westfield, NJ/Westfield), Tyler Coulbourn (fr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and Justin Franzwa (fr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) took second place with a time of 1:34.87.  Rowan came in third (10:36.49) in the distance medley relay.  The team was comprised of Mike Carotenuto (sr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.), Jameer Roberts (fr. Camden, NJ/Highland Reg.),  Dave Quimby (so. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Ethan Wolmark (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) .  Josh McGriff (sr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Will Alston (sr. Matawan, NJ/Matawan Reg.), Roberts and Taylor Purdue (sr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) ran on the fourth place (3:30.03) 4x400 meter relay.

Ejaz was the winner in the 200 meters in 23.14.  Frank Rubino (fr. Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) captured second (21’ 6.25”, 6.56 meters) in the long jump and fourth (41’ 6”, 12.65 meters) in the triple jump.  Carotenuto was fourth (2:00.16) in the 800 meters.  Jeff Tauriello (jr. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) had a fifth place (9:17.03) in the 3000 meters.

Marcus Rawls (jr. North Brunswick, NJ/Florence Twp. Mem.) finished fourth in the 60 meter dash (7.14) and 200 meters (23.89).  Joe Mineo (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) placed fifth (6’ 2”, 1.88 meters) in the high jump and 18th (17’ 2.25”, 5.24 meters) in the long jump.  Glen Kohles (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) was fifth in the shot put with a distance of 44’ 0.75” (13.43 meters).  Brandon Taylor (sr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) came sixth (7.26) in the 60 meter dash.

Purdue captured eighth (51.89) in the 400 meters, followed by Alston, 15th (53.10) and McGriff, 20th (53.57).  Tim Dole (fr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.) was 13th (4:48.47) in the one mile.  In the 3000 meters, Rob Buzby (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Timmy Reardon (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) were 10th (9:33.34) and 15th (10:08.64) respectively.  Dalton Trembow (fr. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) recorded a 10th place (40’ 10.5”, 12.46 meters) in the shot put and Jason Jenkins (so. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) was 13th (40’ 1.5”, 12.23 meters).

In the 60 meter dash, Coulbourn took 13th (7.32) and Dugan was 21st (7.49).  Quimby came in 17th (2:05.73) in the 800 meters.  Wolmark had a 22nd place (2:08.55) and Tyre Robinson (fr. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) was 24th (2:10.83).

Rowan travels to the University of Delaware on Saturday, January 26 for the Thomson Invitational at 9:30 a.m.
