Field Hockey Wins 3-2 In Overtime Against Eastern University

GLASSBORO, NJ  – Midfielder Marisa Marini scored the winning goal for the Rowan University field hockey team in a 3-2 overtime victory against Eastern University on Thursday night.

Marini (fr. Carneys Point, NJ/Padua Academy (DE)) tipped in a pass from forward Amy McKeever (jr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) at 4:05 into the first overtime.  The Profs ended the Eagles’ six game win streak.  Both teams are 6-3 overall.

Rowan totaled 18 shots while Eastern had 15.  Goalie Steph Colombo (jr. Moorestown, NJ/Camden Catholic) was in the Profs’ cage for the first half and made one save.  Goalie Jen Goldberg (sr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) played the remainder of the game and stopped seven shots.  For the Eagles, goalie Kylie Jones (fr. Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Christian) registered five saves.

Rowan started the contest with two straight goals.  Forward Kellie Campbell (so. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) had the first at 5:51.  Her shot from in front of the goal went in the left side.  At 15:46, midfielder Marisa Schoepflin (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) knocked in a rebound.  Back Megan Bolton (fr. Souderton, PA/Christopher Dock) cut the deficit to one at 27:51 with a goal on a penalty corner.  Forward Brittany Moyer (sr. Telford, PA/Christopher Dock) had the assist.  Forward Jess Jaindl (jr. Quakertown, PA/Christopher Dock) scored the tying goal at 49:40.

This weekend, Rowan travels to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, September 29 for a noon game.  On Sunday, September 30, the Profs play at SUNY New Paltz at noon.
