Rowan Football Rolls Over William Paterson, 51-0 In NJAC Opener

GLASSBORO, NJ – Quarterback Louie Bianchini threw four touchdowns to lead Rowan University to a 51-0 shutout over William Paterson University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Friday night. 

It was the conference opener for both teams.  Rowan improves to 2-1 overall, while William Paterson is 1-1.  Bianchini (sr. West Long Branch, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) completed 15 of 20 passes for 207 yards.  He also ran for 49 yards on seven carries.  Wide receiver Ed Eisenhart (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) made five catches for 85 yards and three touchdowns.  Running back Matt Dortch (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) recorded 103 yards and a touchdown on 14 rushes.  Running back Keith Corcoran (sr. Atlantic City, NJ/St. Joseph (Hammonton)) chipped in with 72 yards and one touchdown on 14 attempts.  Wideout Brandon Smith (jr. New Brunswick, NJ/New Brunswick) caught four balls for 42 yards.  Kicker Mike Burke (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) converted five of six PAT attempts and made a 33 yard field goal.

The Profs’ defense limited the Pioneers to 95 yards of total offense (65 passing and 30 rushing).  Linebacker Dominic Caruso (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) registered nine tackles (three solo, six assisted).  Linebacker Patrick Ruley (sr. Margate, NJ/Atlantic City) followed with six stops (four solo, two assisted) and 1.5 tackles for a loss (-9 yards).  Linebacker Darren Dungee (fr. Morristown, NJ/Morristown) had five assisted tackles.  Safety Casey Dillon (sr. Northfield, NJ/Mainland Reg.) intercepted a pass.  Linebacker Bobby Reilly (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) forced a fumble and cornerback Andre Dixon (fr. Passaic, NJ/Milford Academy) recovered it.

For William Paterson, quarterback Ryan Gresik (jr. Newton, NJ/Newton) threw for 57 yards with eight completions in 16 attempts.  Tailback Dawys German (sr. North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington) ran for 29 yards on 16 carries.  He also had three catches for 10 yards.  Tailback Isaac Jlaka (so. Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) collected 27 yards on three rushes. 

Bandit German Decena (sr. Union City, NJ/Emerson) and linebackers John Garbowski (so. Mohegan Lake, NY/Lakeland) and Clifton Glaze (sr. Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra) all tallied 10 tackles.  Defensive backs Adam Curry (sr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) and Javon Hodges (sr. Parlin, NJ/Sayrevill War Mem.) both had seven stops.

Rowan took a 7-0 lead at 11:04 in the first quarter on a one yard run by Dortch.  In the 10 play, 64 yard drive, Bianchini completed three of four passes for 24 yards.  He also had a 14 yard rush.  Dortch totaled 27 yards on six touches.  At 6:40, Bianchini threw a 36 yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Warren Oliver (jr. Beverly, NJ/Palmyra).  Rowan started at its own 23 yard line.  Bianchini went three for four for 55 yards in the eight play, 77 yard touchdown drive.

Eisenhart made a 13 yard touchdown reception at 2:16 to extend the lead to 21-0.  The Profs’ took over on their own 46 yard line.  Dortch had two runs for 21 yards and Bianchini threw for 33 yards with three straight completions.

Burke nailed a 33 yard field goal at 8:24 in the second stanza.  Rowan started on its own 20 yard line after William Paterson missed a 22 yard field goal.  Running back Michael Weber (so. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) carried the ball three times for 33 yards and caught a four yard pass.  Corcoran added 20 yards on two rushes and hauled in an 11 yard reception.  Eisenhart’s second touchdown grab came from 18 yards out at 5:35.  Dortch had a 33 yard run in the five play 63 yard drive.  With 1:31 left, Bianchini connected with Eisenhart for a 36 yard touchdown.  The extra point was blocked by defensive lineman Bobby Moriggia (jr. Eldred, NY/Eldred Central) to make the score 37-0 at halftime.  Bianchini completed a 20 yard pass to Smith on the first play.  Prior to the touchdown, Dortch and Corcoran had 10 and four yard runs respectively.

At 10:22 in the third, Corcoran’s two yard touchdown carry gave the Profs a 44-0 advantage.  Rowan started on the William Paterson 23 yard line after a failed punt attempt.  Bianchini rushed for 18 yards (two attempts) and Corcoran had five yards (two runs).  Weber found the end zone on a one yard run at 4:52.  It was his first collegiate touchdown.  The Profs took over on the Pioneers’ 17 yard line following a bad snap on a punt.  Bianchini threw a five yard pass and followed with a nine yard carry.
