EWING, NJ – The Rowan University men’s track and field team traveled to The College of New Jersey on Saturday for the Lions’ Invitational.
Dave Quimby (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) took second place in the 800 meters with a career best of 1:55.58. Adam Diekewicz (sr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) tied for third in the pole vault with 14’ 3.25” (4.35 meters). Frank Visconti (jr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) finished fourth in the shot put. He threw 45’ 0.5” (13.73 meters). Visconti (jr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) also came in sixth (139’ 7”, 42.56 meters) in the discus followed by Jason Jenkins (so. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) seventh (137’, 41.75 meters).
Steven Iafrate (so. Closter, NJ/Demarest) took sixth in the javelin. He had a toss of 182’ 8” (55.68 meters). Joe Mineo (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) tied for ninth in the high jump with a height of 6’ 0.75” (1.85 meters). Jack Curry (so. Roosevelt, NJ/Hightstown) took 10th (38’ 11”, 11.86 meters) in the triple jump and tied for 13th (5’ 8.75”, 1.75 meters) in the high jump.
Stephen Hoffman (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) ran 16:12.35 in the 5000 meters for 11th place. Mike Lewis (fr. Glen Mills, PA/Dowingtown W.) finished 14th (1:59.11) in the 800 meters and Ethan Wolmark (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) was 14th (4:09.72) in the 1500 meters. Wolmark’s time in the 1500 meters was a career performance. Will Alston (jr. Matawan, NJ/Matawan Reg.) came in 17th (52.03) in the 400 meters while Josh McGriff (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) was 19th (52.09).
Next week, Rowan competes at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, May 5 at 11 a.m. The conference championships will be held at Richard Stockton College.
