CHESTER, PA – The Rowan University men’s track and field team competed at the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The invitational was held at Widener University.
Demetrius Rooks (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) won the 400 meter hurdles in 52.92. The 4x100 meter relay took second place with a time of 43.46. The relay included Jayce Maxwell (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Taylor Purdue (jr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.), Josh McGriff (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) and Ali Ejaz (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro). In the 100 meters, Brandon Taylor (jr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) came in third (11.29) while Maxwell followed sixth (11.38).
Steven Iafrate (so. Closter, NJ/Demarest) threw the javelin 183’ 11” (56.06 meters) for fifth place. Joe Mineo (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) tied for fifth in the high jump with 5’ 10.75” (1.80 meters). Adam Diekewicz (sr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) tied for sixth in the pole vault. He had a height of 13’ 9.25” (4.20 meters). Jason Jenkins (so. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) finished seventh (145’ 10”, 44.46 meters) in the discus while Frank Visconti (jr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) was ninth (143’, 43.60 meters). Visconti was also 13th in the shot put with 40’ 11.50” (12.48 meters).
Dave Quimby (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) took 10th (1:57.93) in the 800 meters. In the 200 meters, Ejaz and Taylor were 12th (23.18) an 13th (23.23) respectively. Rob Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.) finished 12th (4:00.75) in the 1500 meters. Jerry Dalce (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Burlington County Institute of Technology) came in 12th in the 110 meter hurdles (16.82). Josh McGriff (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) had a 12th place (52.09) in the 400 meters.
