WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Rowan University men’s track and field team traveled to the Wake Forest Open to start the outdoor season. The two-day meet with Division I, II and III schools concluded on Saturday.
Demetrius Rooks (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) finished eighth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 52.99. The 4x400 meter relay had a time of 3:14.14 for fifth place. The relay included Taylor Purdue (jr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.), Jayce Maxwell (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Ali Ejaz (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) and Rooks.
Stephen Hoffman (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) took 20th (9:00.42) in the 3000 meters. In the 1500 meters, Eric DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) and Rob Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.) were 10th (3:58.66) and 11th (3:58.86) respectively. Rawls also took 10th (8:46.33) in the 3000 meters. Frank Visconti (jr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) had a 15th place in the discus with a throw of 143’ 3” (43.67 meters).
Ethan Wolmark (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) came in 24th (9:10.36) in the 3000 meters. Ejaz finished 34th (22.48) in the 200 meters and Maxwell was 45th (22.80). Mike Carotenuto (jr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) ran 4:06.30 in the 1500 meters for 38th.
Next week, Rowan travels to Annapolis, MD on Saturday, March 24 for the Navy Invitational that starts at 10 a.m .
