WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Rowan University men’s track and field team started the outdoor season at the Wake Forest Open on Friday.  The two-day meet with Division I, II and III schools continues on Saturday.

Steven Iafrate (so. Closter, NJ/Demarest) took fourth place in the javelin.  He had a career best toss of 203’ 6” (62.03 meters).  Mike Carotenuto (jr. Port Momouth, NJ/Middletown N.) finished 13th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.17 and Eric DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) came in 24th (1:56.62).  Jake McCormack (sr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) came in 15th (33:59.80) in the 10,000 meters while Jeff Tauriello (so. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) was 17th (34:39.11).  

In the high jump B, Joe Mineo (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and Josh McGriff (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) were 16th (5’ 11.50”, 1.82 meters) and 18th (5’ 7.75”, 1.72 meters) respectively.  Ali Ejaz (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) ran 49.00 in the 400 meters for 21st.  Jon Sewnig (fr. Yardville, NJ/Notre Dame) had a 21st place (15:52.65) in the 5000 meters.  Marcus Rawls (so. North Brunswick, NJ/Florence Twp. Mem.) finished 38th (11.47) in the 100 meters.  

On Saturday, the field events start at 9:30 a.m. and the running events begin at 10 a.m. at the Wake Forest Open.
