GLASSBORO, NJ  – The Rowan University women’s swim team defeated Swarthmore College, 139-123 on Saturday afternoon.

The Profs improve to 5-4 overall while it was the first loss (3-1) on the season for the Garnet.  Rowan won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:45.46.  The relay included Olivia Graham (fr. Montclair, NJ/Montclair), Leanne Zaug (so. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park), Teresa Stearns (sr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) and Gigi Russo (so. Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Reg.).  Charlene Gustafson (jr. Clifton, NJ/Clifton), Julia DelNero (fr. Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Red Bank Catholic), Lauren Grajek (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) and Allison Schneider (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) were on the second place (1:56.48) 200 medley relay.

Schneider finished first in the 500 (5:27.16) and 1000 (10:55.18) freestyles and 200 individual medley (2:17.65).  Kelly Gallagher (fr. Haddon Twp., NJ/Haddon Twp.) was the winner in the 100 (1:03.70) and 200 (2:16.78) backstrokes.  She was also third (2:20.22) in the 200 individual medley.  

Grajek had second places in the 100 (1:03.86) and 200 (2:18.24) backstrokes.  Graham came in second (2:03.40) in the 200 freestyle followed by Russo and Gustafson who were third (2:05.04) and fourth (2:05.79) respectively.  In the 50 free, Graham finished second (25.46) followed by Russo, third (25.84) and Stearns, fourth (25.94).  Stearns took second (56.63) in the 100 freestyle while Graham was third (57.17) and Zaug was fourth (57.82). 

DelNero had a second place (5:29.21) in the 500 freestyles and was third (11:09.66) in the 1000.  In the 100 butterfly, Gustafson and Abby Grasso (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) were second (1:02.85) and third (1:04.24) respectively.  Olivia Wojtowicz (fr. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne’s County) finished third in the 100 (1:12.86) and 200 (2:36.78) breaststrokes. 

Rowan’s next competition is at the Swarthmore Invitational on Friday and Saturday, November 30 and December 1.
