EWING, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team had a scoreless overtime tie at The College of New Jersey on Thursday night.
Rowan (12-2-1) will be the second seed in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament. TCNJ (14-1-2) will be the third seed. The Profs finished 7-1-1 in the conference while the Lions were 6-1-2. In this week’s South Atlantic Region Rankings, TCNJ was fourth while Rowan was sixth.
The NJAC Championship Tournament starts on Saturday, October 27. The top seed Montclair State University (15-1-1) and Rowan receive a bye in the first round. The sixth seed Kean University (10-5-2) plays at the third seed The College of New Jersey. Number four Richard Stockton College (15-3-2) hosts the fifth seed William Paterson University (9-7-2).
The semifinals are on Wednesday, October 31 and the championship is slated for Saturday, November 3. In the semifinals, the winner of the Kean/TCNJ game travels to Rowan while Montclair State is at home against the winner of the Richard Stockton/William Paterson game. The NJAC championship will be held at the higher remaining seed. The conference champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
TCNJ ended the game with 12 shots while Rowan had seven. Profs’ goalkeeper Maria Dorris (sr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.) stopped three shots. In the Lions’ net, goalie Jessica Weeder (fr. Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon Reg.) made one save.
