MAHWAH, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team defeated Ramapo College, 2-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) contest on Wednesday.
Forward Erika Suhl (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) scored both goals. The first one came at 4:39 with an assist from midfielder/forward Jess Durnian (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Twp.). Her second goal was unassisted with 3:05 remaining in the second half. She leads the team in scoring with 20 points, nine goals and two assists.
The Profs are 9-2 overall with a 5-1 NJAC mark. This week, Rowan is ranked seventh in the South Atlantic Region. The Roadrunners drop to 4-7 on the season and 1-5 in the conference.
Rowan totaled 24 shots while Ramapo had nine. Goalkeeper Maria Dorris (sr. sr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.) made six saves for her eighth shutout. She was named this week’s Eastern College Athletic Conference and NJAC Defensive Player of the Week. Roadrunners’ goalie Talia Auslin (jr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) stopped 14 shots.
Next, Rowan hosts Rutgers-Newark on Saturday, October 13 in a 1 p.m. conference game.
