Rowan Wins 3-1 At Ramapo College

MAHWAH, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team won 3-1 over Ramapo College in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Tuesday afternoon.

The Profs, ranked seventh in the nation, are 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Roadrunners have a 5-2 record with a 0-1 NJAC mark.

Forwards Rachael Dix (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.), Julie Cairone (sr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Brittany Phillips (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Delsea Reg.) each scored one goal. Midfielder Ashley Adams (sr. Erial, NJ/Timber Creek Reg.) contributed with an assist. Forward Katie Bruno (jr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown) had the goal for Ramapo and forward Victoria Ahlers (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold) had an assist.

Rowan registered 24 total shots while Ramapo took 10. Goalie Jen Goldberg (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) made four saves in the Profs’ cage. She was chosen this week’s Defensive Player of the Week in the conference. For the Roadrunners, goalie Rebecca Elliott (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick) stopped 14 shots and midfielder Aimee Herbert (sr. Oceanport, NJ/Shore Reg.) had one defender save.

Dix started the scoring at 10:30. It was her 12th goal on the season. She was named this week’s NJAC Offensive Player of the Week. Cairone scored the second goal (31:23) to end the half with a 2-0 advantage. Bruno had Ramapo’s lone goal at 46:17 with an assist from Ahlers on a penalty corner. Phillips added an insurance goal with 8:20 remaining and Adams assisted.

Rowan returns home on Saturday, September 24 against Stevenson University at 6 p.m.
