Rowan Competes on First Day of ECAC Track & Field Championships

BETHLEHEM, PA – The Rowan University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed on the first day of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday. The two-day championships are being held at Moravian College.

Jena Peacock (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) came in third in the women’s 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:05.52 and Danielle Czohla (jr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) was 15th (11:55.63). Heidi DeGuzman (jr. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken) ran a time of 12.61 in the 100 meter trials and qualified for the final on Friday at 12:25 p.m.

In the 100 meter hurdle trials, Jacqui Nisbett (sr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) and Jamie Thompson (fr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) had times of 14.93 and 14.90 respectively. Thompson’s time was a season best. They both advance to Friday’s final at 11:55 a.m.

Steven Iafrate (fr. Closter, NJ/Demarest) took fifth place in the men’s javelin with a throw of 195’ 6” (59.60 meters) that was a NCAA provisional (193’ 3”, 58.90 meters). His best throw this season is 200’ 11” (61.24) at the Lions’ Invitational. Sarah Dores (fr. Maple Shade, NJ/Holy Cross) finished 14th in the women’s javelin (116’ 2.5”, 35.43 meters).
