SWARTHMORE, PA – The Rowan University men’s and women’s track and field teams had 13 athletes that competed at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet on Saturday night.
Jenn Rawls (so. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) took second place in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:24.65 which was an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships qualifier (18:45.00). At the Larry Ellis Invitational, Rawls had a NCAA provisional (17:35.00) and a better ECAC standard in 17:20.11. Magan Kustera (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) jumped 5’ 1.75” (1.57 meters) in the high jump and came in second.
Jena Peacock (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) finished third (11:00.58) in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Her time surpassed the ECAC qualifier of 12:00.24. Prior she ran 10:54.06 at the Penn Relays which was a NCAA provisional (11:00.00) and an ECAC standard. Heidi DeGuzman (jr. Central Islip, NJ/Pennsauken) captured third (12.52) in the 100 meters and seventh (26.42) in the 200 meters. DeGuzman’s time in the 100 meters tied her season best and was an ECAC qualifier (12.80).
In the 100 meter hurdles, Jacqui Nisbett (sr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) came in fourth (15.34) and Jamie Thompson (fr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) was ninth (15.64). Both of their times surpassed the ECAC qualifier (16.34). Nisbett had a season top time of 14.92 that is a NCAA provisional (14.99) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships. Thompson ran a NCAA provisional of 14.93 at the Wake Forest Open.
Jessica Carlson (fr. Manahwakin, NJ/Southern Reg.) took fifth place in the triple jump with a leap of 35’ 6” (10.82 meters). Sarah Dores (fr. Maple Shade, NJ/Holy Cross) was seventh in the javelin with toss of 106’ 1” (32.33 meters). Danielle Czohla (jr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) came in ninth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with an ECAC qualifier of 11:50.92. She previously had a better time of 11:48.70 at the NJAC Championships. Samantha Stapleton (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) finished 22nd (2:17.46) in the 800 meters. Her time surpassed the previous ECAC qualifier of 2:17.93 that she ran at the Larry Ellis Invitational. The ECAC standard for the 800 meters is 2:19.50.
For the men, Eric DuBois (jr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) took ninth place with an ECAC qualifier (15:15.00) of 14:47.32 in the 5000 meters. The time was better than his previous qualifier (14:53.49) at the Penn Relays. Mike Carotenuto (so. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) was 41st in the 1500 meters with an ECAC standard (4:01.85) of 3:59.74.
Next, Rowan will travel to Moravian College for the ECAC Championships on Thursday and Friday, May 19 and 20.
