Rowan Shuts Out Arcadia, 2-0

GLENSIDE, PA – The Rowan University women’s soccer team had a 2-0 shutout over Arcadia University in a nonconference game on Monday.

The Profs improve to 6-3 overall, while the Knights are 8-2-1.  Back Leah Carney (sr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) scored on a pass from back Kayla Leahey (fr. Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley (NY)) at 18:21 in the first period to give Rowan a 1-0 lead.  At 23:44, forward Erika Suhl (fr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) sent the ball into the box and midfielder Veronica Rhea (sr. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) kicked it into the net.

Rowan took 15 shots and Arcadia had 12.  Profs’ goalkeeper Lyndsie Bernardini (jr. Elmer, NJ/A.P. Schalick) made five saves for her third shutout of the season.  Goalkeeper Jackie Law (jr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) stopped eight shots in the Knights’ net.

Rowan hosts Moravian College on Wednesday, October 5 at 5 p.m.
