GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team defeated visiting Kean University, 3-0 on Saturday evening.
The Profs are 11-3 overall while the Cougars are 9-4-3 on the season. In this week’s NCAA Region Rankings, Rowan is second in the South Atlantic Region.
Midfielder Veronica Rhea (sr. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) scored at 2:57 with an assist from forward Erika Suhl (fr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.). Suhl passed the ball into the box then Rhea had a high shot over goalkeeper Kaitlin King’s (fr. Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) head.
In the second half, back Leah Carney (sr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) tapped in a loose ball at 81:03. With 3:24 remaining, midfielder Evynn Wright (sr. Marlton, NJ/Eastern Reg.) hit the net with a shot to the lower right corner. She had a cross from midfielder Nina Fragoso (jr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.).
Rowan took 13 shots while Kean had eight. Goalkeeper Lyndsie Bernardini (jr. Elmer, NJ/A.P. Schalick) made four saves for her sixth shutout. King turned away two shots.
The Profs host Ramapo College in a rescheduled conference game on Monday, October 24 at 7 p.m.
