JERSEY CITY, NJ – Forward Erika Suhl scored both goals for the Rowan University women’s soccer team in a 2-0 shutout at New Jersey City University on Tuesday. The Profs have an eight-game win streak.
Rowan is 10-3 on the season with a 6-0 conference mark. New Jersey City is 12-5 overall and 3-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Profs and the Gothic Knights each collected 20 total shots. Goalkeeper Lyndsie Bernardini (jr.Elmer, NJ/A.P. Schalick) made four saves for her fifth shutout. NJCU goalkeeper Brittany Hoffman (fr. McMurray, PA/Peters Twp.) stopped 12 shots.
All of the scoring came in the second half. Suhl (fr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) put the Profs on the scoreboard at 59:06. Midfielder Veronica Rhea (sr. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) had a pass up the middle to Suhl who beat Hoffman with a high shot. Suhl’s second goal came at 66:49. Midfielder Nina Fragoso (jr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) had a long pass up the left sideline of the field to Suhl. She dribbled the ball into the box and kicked it into the left corner.
On Homecoming, Rowan hosts Kean University on Saturday, October 22 at 5 p.m.
