Women's Soccer Shuts Out Visiting New Jersey City, 3-0

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team shut out New Jersey City University, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday night.

The Profs, ranked 10th in the nation, are 7-0-1 overall with a 3-0 conference mark. The Gothic Knights are 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the NJAC.

Forward Jess Babice (sr. Groveville, NJ/Steinert) scored one goal and had two assists. Midfielders Evynn Wright (jr. Marlton, NJ/Eastern Reg.) and Christie Fink (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) each contributed with a goal.

Rowan took 12 shots and New Jersey City had seven. Goalie Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) made two saves for her fourth shutout. For the Gothic Knights, goalies Laura Robinson (jr. Edison, NJ/Edison) and Nicole Hernandez (fr. Belleville, NJ/Belleville) each had two saves.

Wright put the Profs up 1-0 in the first half. She scored at 16:19 with a shot on the ground that went into the right side of the net. Babice registered an assist. Fink scored the second goal at 65:11. Babice passed the ball from the left post to the center of the box and Fink knocked it in. At 71:12, Babice recorded an unassisted goal with a chip shot over Robinson into the left side of the net.

Next, Rowan plays at conference opponent Richard Stockton College on Wednesday, September 29 at 6 p.m.
