FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The Rowan University women’s soccer team tied Emory University, 1-1 after two overtimes on the second day of the University of Mary Washington Classic.

In the second contest on Sunday, Bridgewater College plays Mary Washington at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, Rowan defeated Mary Washington, 2-1 and Emory won over Bridgewater, 2-1.

All of the scoring came in the first half. Emory midfielder Melanie Levy (sr. Plainview, NY/Plainview JFK) scored at 9:32 when she headed in a corner kick by back Lee Bachouros (so. Westlake, OH/Hathaway Brown). At 41:53, midfielder Marina Mangano (so. Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Twp.) recorded the tying goal with an assist from midfielder Holly Bundy (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.).

Both Rowan and Emory have a 4-0-1 record. The Eagles took 13 shots while the Profs had nine. In the Rowan goal, Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) made eight saves. For Emory, goaltender Kaele Leonard (so. Elmhurst, IL/York Community) stopped five shots.

Rowan’s next game is at home against conference opponent Montclair State University on Saturday, September 18 at 1 p.m.
