PRINCETON, NJ – The Rowan University men’s track and field teams competed at the Princeton University Elite Meet on Saturday.
Sean Biehn (sr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) won the javelin with a throw of 204’ 1” (62.20 meters). His distance was better than the NCAA provisional (189’ 7”, 57.80 meters). Prior Biehn recorded a NCAA provisional with 199’ 7” (60.84 meters) at the Rowan Open (Apr. 9). Sean Corey took third place with 198’ 11” (60.62 meters.) which was a NCAA provisional. Corey already has a NCAA automatic with 215’ 3” (65.61) from the Wake Forest Open (Mar. 19).
Mark Lisa (so. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) had a second place in the long jump. He had a leap of 23’ 0.75” (7.03 meters) which was a NCAA provisional (22’ 11.75”, 7.00 meters). In the javelin, Matt Tholis (so. Montgomery, NJ/Mongomery) and Anthony Ruggeri (sr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) came in fifth (189’ 6”, 57.77 meters) and sixth (186’ 6”, 56.86 meters) respectively.
The 4x400 meter relay finished sixth (3:25.06) with Taylor Purdue (fr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.), Jayce Maxwell (so. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Josh McGriff (fr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) and Daniel Collier (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson). Kevin Gauntt (sr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) came in 11th place (56.89) in the 400 meter hurdles and Benjamin Bradley (jr. Morris Plains, NJ/Parsippany Hills) was 13th (58.97). Gauntt finished 15th (15.45) in the 110 meter hurdles.
Eric DuBois (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) took 15th (4:02.15) in the 1500 meters and Mike Carotenuto (fr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) was 17th (4:02.75). Brandon Taylor (fr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) was 17th in the 200 meters (23.06) and 18th in the 100 meters (11.57). Purdue finished 22nd (51.04) in the 400 meters. In the 800 meters, Nick Huddy (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) came in 21st (1:59.71) while Collier and Matt Crosta (so. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) were 25th (2:01.25) and 26th (2:06.41) respectively.
Tiffany Chamberlain (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) was the lone representative from the women’s team. She finished 13th (1:06.99) in the 400 meter hurdles.
Next week, Rowan will travel to The College of New Jersey on Saturday, May 8 for the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships at 9 a.m.
