Rowan Competes at Penn Invitational; Biehn and Rawls Have NCAA Provisionals

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rowan University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational on Saturday.

Sean Biehn (sr. Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City) won the men’s javelin with 197’ 8” (60.24 meters) which was a NCAA provisional (57.80 meters). Biehn currently has the sixth best throw in Division III. Sean Corey (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) followed second with 189’ 7” (57.79 meters) and Dan Lisa (fr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) was third with 183’ 1” (55.81 meters).

Jenn Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) took second in the women’s 1500 meter run in 4:31.99. Her time was a NCAA provisional (4:38.50) and also a school record. She broke the mark of 4:36.88 by Linda Vaughan in 1990. Rawls ranks second among the national qualifiers. Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) won the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:00.00. Peacock’s time was better than the NCAA provisional and school record that she ran (11:06.74) at the Wake Forest Open. Among the NCAA qualifiers, she is second overall. The national provisional for the steeplechase is 11:13.00.

Lisa Jones (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) came in fourth (11:43.32) in the steeplechase and Danielle Czohla (so. Lafayettte, NJ/High Point Reg.) was sixth (12:29.95). Tiffany Chamberlain (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) took fourth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:03.40) and Jacqui Nisbett (jr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) was tied for ninth (1:05.83). Nisbett also came in 10th (15.42) in the 100 meter hurdles and 14th (16’ 1”, 4.90 meters) in the long jump.

In the 5,000 meters, Ashley White (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) finished seventh (18:29.23) while Laura O’Mara (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) and Liz Guarini (jr Steinertville, NJ/Steinert) were 20th (19:37.32) and 21st (19:37.76) respectively. Amirah Muneer (so. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) came in eighth (59.55) in the 400 meters and Beverlee Brownlee (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro) was 16th (1:02.60). Brownlee also had a 25th place in the 200 meters (26.81).

Rose Johnson (so. Willingboro, NJ/Holy Cross) took 12th (15.75) in the 100 meter hurdles and Heather Carbone (jr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) was 18th (17.32). Johnson and Carbone were 14th (1:09.58) and 16th (1:12.93) respectively in the 400 meter hurdles. Sylvia Mosley (so. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) had a 17th place (12.99) in the 100 meters and was 27th in the 200 meters (26.85). Christina Huynh (fr. Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany) finished 19th (2:24.34) in the 800 meters. Raneeka Doharty (so. Orange, NJ/Orange) and Alli Catenacci (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) were 25th (5:05.86) and 26th (5:06.76) respectively in the 1500 meter run. Doharty also took 24th (2:27.32) in the 800 meters.

In the men’s long jump, Mark Lisa (so. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) finished third with 22’ 7.75” (6.90 meters) and Kyle Hayes (jr. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) was sixth with 21’ 7.25” (6.58 meters). Kevin Gauntt (sr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) came in sixth in the 110 meter hurdles (15.09) and Benjamin Bradley (jr. Morris Plains, NJ/Parsippany Hills) was 13th (16.77). Gauntt took 10th in the 400 meter hurdles (57.10) while Bradley and Kurt Carlson (fr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) were 14th (57.79) and 15th (57.84) respectively.

Eric DuBois (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) had a sixth place (15:19.79) in the 5000 meters and Jake McCormack (so. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) was 15th (15:34.59). Anthony Ruggeri (sr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) took seventh in the javelin with 172’ 9” (52.66 meters). Brandon Taylor (fr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) came in 11th (11.40) in the 100 meters and Cody High (sr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) was 18th place (11.81). Taylor was also 22nd (23.16) in the 200 meter dash.

Jayce Maxwell (so. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) took 18th place in the 400 meters (50.23) and Taylor Purdue (fr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) was 23rd (51.66). Mike Carotenuto (fr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) finished 17th (4:10.11) in the 1500 meter run and Jeff Terebey (jr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) had a 19th place (4:14.45). In the 800 meters, Nick Huddy (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) and Daniel Collier (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) were 21st (2:00.79) and 26th (2:01.98) respectively.

The men’s 4x800 meter relay came in third (8:14.94) and 4x100 meter relay took fourth place (44.28). The 4x800 meter relay included Huddy, Collier, Tom Austin (so. Mantua, NJ/West Deptford) and Carotenuto. Hayes, Josh McGriff (fr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Gauntt and Taylor were on the 4x100. The 4x400 meter relay was ninth (3:30.02) with McGriff, Maxwell, Purdue and Bradley.

The women’s 4x800 meter relay with Rachel Byrne (fr. Shamong, NJ/Holy Cros), Rawls, Huynh and Peacock had a third place with a time of 9:24.84. The 4x400 meter relay finished eighth (4:01.48) and the 4x100 meter relay was ninth (49.88). The 4x400 meter relay included Nisbett, Muneer, Brownlee and Chamberlain. Nisbett, Muneer, Brownlee and Mosley were on the 4x100 meter relay.

Next week, the Profs will host the Rowan Open on Friday, April 9 at 3 p.m.
