TOWSON, MD – The Rowan University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams traveled to Maryland for the Towson University Invitational on Saturday.
Sean Corey (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry E.) won the men’s javelin with 200’ 10” (61.22 meters). His throw was better than the NCAA provisional of 189’ 7” (57.80 meters). Corey currently has the top throw in Division III with 215’ 3” (65.61 meters) at the Wake Forest Open (Mar. 19). It was a NCAA automatic (205’ 1”, 62.50 meters).
Kyle Hayes (jr. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) came in first in the long jump with 21’ 10” (6.65 meters) followed by Mark Lisa (so. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) second with 20’ 11.75” (6.39 meters). Anthony Ruggeri (sr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) took second in the javelin with a toss of 182’ 10” (55.72 meters) while Joseph Carmichael (fr. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) and Matt Tholis (so. Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery) were fourth (174’, 53.05 meters) and sixth (166’ 8”, 50.81 meters) respectively. Carmichael also had a fourth place in the shot put with 44’ 8.25” (13.62 meters) and he was sixth in the discus with 127’ 9” (38.94 meters).
Kevin Gauntt (sr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) took second in the 110 meter hurdles (15.46) and fourth in the 400 meter hurdles (59.50). Benjamin Bradley (jr. Morris Plains, NJ/Parsippany Hills) was fifth (59.90) and sixth (16.84) in the 400 and 110 meter hurdles respectively. Eric DuBois (so. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) finished fifth in the 1500 meters (4:05.71). In the 800 meters, Tom Austin (so. Mantua, NJ/West Deptford) came in seventh (2:03.51) followed by DuBois eighth (2:03.52). Brandon Taylor (fr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) took ninth in the 100 meters (11.85).
Kurt Carlson (fr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) had a fifth place in the high jump with 5’ 8.75” (1.75 meters). Adam Diekewicz (so. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) came in fifth in the pole vault (12’ 7.5”, 3.85 meters). The men’s 4x100 meter relay took fourth in 44.61. The relay consisted of Hayes, Josh McGriff (fr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Cody High (sr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) and Taylor. The 4x400 meter relay was seventh (3:32.57) with McGriff, Jayce Maxwell (so. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Daniel Collier (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Nick Huddy (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.).
Jenn Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) had a second place in the 1500 meters (4:43.41) and Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) was fourth (4:47.09). In the 800 meters, Rawls and Peacock finished seventh (2:22.70) and eighth (2:23.02) respectively. Heidi DeGuzman (so. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken) took second in the 100 meters (12.58). She was also ninth in the 200 meters (26.65). Tiffany Chamberlain’s (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) fourth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles (1:03.50) was better than the NCAA provisional (1:04.20). She also took sixth place in the 100 meter hurdles (15.60).
In the women’s field events, Jacqui Nisbett (jr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) finished fifth in the long jump with 16’ 3” (4.95 meters). Vicky Tench (fr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) came in fifth (111’ 5”, 33.95 meters) in the hammer. Stephanie Greco (fr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) was 11th in the shot put with 30’ 2.75” (9.21 meters).
The women’s 4x400 meter relay had a fifth place (4:09.57) and the 4x100 meter relay was sixth (49.56). The 4x400 meter relay included Rachel Byrne (fr. Shamong, NJ/Holy Cross), Beverlee Brownlee (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro), Chamberlain and Nisbett. DeGuzman, Amirah Muneer (so. Ewing, NJ/Ewing), Brownlee and Sylvia Mosley (so. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) were on the 4x100 meter relay.
