MAHWAH, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team won at Ramapo College, 5-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday.

Forward Jess Babice (sr. Groveville, NJ/Steinert) led the Profs with three goals and one assist. Forward Veronica Rhea (jr. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) and midfielder Evynn Wright (jr. Marlton, NJ/Eastern Reg.) each scored once. Forward Melanie Wittenberger (so. Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) and midfielder Dayna Sakalsky (fr. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) contributed with one assist apiece.

Rowan has an 11-1-1 record with a 5-1 conference mark. This week, the Profs are ranked third in the South Atlantic Region and 22nd in the nation. Ramapo drops to 5-9 overall and 0-6 in the NJAC.

The Profs totaled 19 shots while the Roadrunners took eight. Goalie Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) started in the Rowan net and had three saves in 63 minutes. Goalkeeper Jillian Brannan (jr. Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) played the remainder of the game and stopped two shots. For Ramapo, goalkeeper Alyssa Krall (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) turned away five shots.

Rhea started the scoring at 4:20 with an assist from Babice. Babice’s first goal came at 41:50 and Wittenberger picked up the assist. Less than a minute later, Babice scored unassisted for a 3-0 halftime advantage.

In the second period, Babice registered her third goal at 50:46 unassisted. She has 16 goals on the season. Wright scored the final goal at 58:22 with a pass from Sakalsky.

Rowan is at home against conference opponent Rutgers-Newark on Saturday, October 16 at 5 p.m.
