GLASSBORO, NJ – The Wesley College field hockey team defeated host Rowan University, 3-0 on Tuesday night.

Midfielder Madison Leone (fr. Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) scored twice for the Wolverines. Forward Nicole Hill (sr. Pocomoke, MD/Holly Grove) contributed with one goal and two assists. Forward Abigail Hill (so. Dover, DE/Lake Forest) added an assist.

Wesley improves to 8-6 on the season and Rowan has a 9-5 record. This week, the Profs are ranked 13th in the nation in Division III.

Rowan collected 21 shots and Wesley totaled 10. Goalie Sarah Johnson (sr. Honeybrook, PA/Twin Valley) stopped four shots for the shutout. For the Profs, goalies Jen Goldberg (so. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) and Lisa Apt (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) each played a half and had one save apiece.

The Wolverines had a 2-0 advantage after the first half. Leone’s first goal at 12:07 came on a penalty corner with a pass from Nicole Hill. The second goal came at 25:48 on a shot by Nicole Hill after a cross from Abigail Hill. In the second period, Leone scored again on a penalty corner with an assist from Nicole Hill with 42 seconds remaining.

Rowan travels to Montclair State University on Saturday, October 16 for a 6 p.m. conference game.
