110 meter hurdles results
MARIETTA, OH – Rowan University’s Kevin Gauntt competed in the 110 meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. The championships are being held at Don Drumm Stadium at Marietta College.
Gauntt (jr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) had a time of 14.94 in heat one of round one. There were a total of 17 athletes in the three heats and the top eight advanced to the final on Saturday. The last qualifier had a time of 14.76. The best time in round one was 14.39 by Edgar Townsend from Greenville College which was a stadium record.
Gauntt qualified for the national championship with a time of 14.69 that he recorded at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships. The NCAA provisional for the 110 hurdles is 14.90 while the automatic is 14.42.
During the season, Gauntt won the 110 meter hurdles at the Towson University Invitational in 15.09. He was second at the Collegiate Track Conference Championships (15.11). Gauntt finished fifth at the Wake Forest Open (15.12), the Lions’ Invitational (15.70) and the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet (15.47). This year, he received NJAC Track Athlete of the Week honors twice.
