KUTZTOWN, PA – The Kutztown men’s and women’s swim team defeated visiting Rowan University on Saturday. The men won 141.5-120.5 while the women had a 152-104 victory.
The Kutztown men are 6-3 on the season and the women have an 11-3 record. The Rowan men are 6-4 overall and the women have a 3-6 mark.
The Rowan men took first place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.74 and the 200 freestyle relay in 1:31.06. The Rowan women captured first place in the 200 freestyle relay (1:49.56).
Kevin Wallace (sr. Somers Point, NJ/Lenape) won the 200 (2:01.42) and 100 (54.95) butterflies. He also captured first place in the 200 individual medley (2:02.74). Steve Tucker (jr. Pittsgrove, NJ/Sacred Heart) took first in the 50 freestyle (23.12). Jeff Terrell (fr. Linwood, NJ/Mainland Reg.) came in second in the 1000 (10:19.83) and 500 (5:03.02). Josh Spivey (fr. Margate, NJ/Atlantic City) took second in the 200 freestyle (1:49.61). In the 100 backstroke, Matt Marzolf (fr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) was second (57.68) followed by Jeremy Soto (jr. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) third (57.82). Jake Taylor (so. Millville, NJ/Millville) and Dan Bower (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) were second (1:03.21) and third (1:03.36) respectively in the 100 breaststroke. Bill Malone (fr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) was third in the 100 freestyle (50.97).
Anne O’Gorman (so. Boonton, NJ/Academy of St. Elizabeth) was the winner in the 100 butterfly (1:03.43). She also came in third in the 200 butterfly (2:21.65). Stacey Rahter (so. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.) won the 200 individual medley (2:18.88) and took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.55). Samantha Edwards (so. Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) finished third in the 1000 (11:23.33) and 500 (5:29.18). Kate Winters (so. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.) had a second place in the 200 backstroke (2:16.07) and was third in the 100 backstroke (1:04.95). Janina Wojcik (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) was second in the 100 freestyle (58.19) and third in the 50 free (26.78).
Rowan’s next competition is at the Metropolitan Championships on Friday-Sunday, February 20-22. The championships will be held at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
