GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Jess Babice and Veronica Rhea each scored two goals to lead Rowan University to a 4-0 victory over Ramapo College in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday night.
Rowan improves to 8-1-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference. Ramapo has a 6-5 record with a 2-3 NJAC mark.
Babice (jr. Groveville, NJ/Steinert) put the Profs ahead, 1-0 at 14:24 in the first period. She beat the defender and took a shot from straight on. Just over two minutes later, Rhea (so. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) had an unassisted goal off a deflection. At 24:30, Rhea sent the ball to Babice and she beat the goalie to give Rowan a 3-0 halftime advantage. Rhea’s second goal came at 64:33 in the second. She connected on a direct kick from 20 yards out that went off the goalkeeper’s fingertips into the back of the net.
Rowan out shot Ramapo, 25-8. Profs’ goalkeepers Sarah Volkomer (sr. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) and Jillian Brannan (so. Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) each played 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Jessica DaRold (sr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) made seven saves for the Roadrunners.
Rowan travels to Delaware Valley College for a nonconference game on Thursday, October 8 at 4 p.m.
