UNION, NJ – Four players scored in double figures to lead the Kean University women’s basketball team over Rowan University, 82-48 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday.
Guard Ebony Jackson (sr. Newark, NJ/Malcom X Shabazz) totaled a game-high 25 points. Jackson also dished nine assists. Forward Tiffany Patrick (so. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) contributed with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Guard/forward Danielle Brown (jr. North Brunswick, NJ/St. Peter’s) and guard Olivia Triano (jr. Keyport, NJ/Keyport) added 12 and 10 points respectively. Brown also grabbed a game-high 18 boards.
The Cougars have a record of 10-3 and they are undefeated in the conference with a 3-0 mark. The Profs are 7-5 overall with a 1-2 NJAC mark. For Rowan, forward Amanda Jennings (jr. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) scored 12 points and compiled eight rebounds.
Kean started the game with a 15-2 run in the first six minutes and Jackson made four baskets. Rowan trailed by 10 points (19-9) at 10:57 after a layup by guard Brynn DeGroff (sr. Wildwood Crest, NJ/Wildwood). The Cougars then had a 17-6 run that ended at 3:05 to lead by 21 points (36-15). Jackson scored seven points in the surge. Her jumper with 2:08 left made the score 39-15. At the half, Kean was ahead 39-20. Jackson recorded 19 first half points.
In the final period, the Cougars had a 30 point advantage (57-27) at 12:58. Three times Kean had its biggest lead of 35 points. The first one (65-30) at 10:10 came on Triano’s layup. She also nailed a three at 7:35 that made the score 70-35. Triano and Patrick each posted 10 points in the second half.
Rowan hosts conference opponent Montclair State University on Saturday, January 10 at 1 p.m.
