NEWARK, DE – The Rowan University men’s and women’s indoor track teams competed at the Thomson Invitational at the University of Delaware on Saturday. The women took third place out of 16 teams, while the men were sixth among 17 schools.

Eileen O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) won the one mile with a time of 5:29.02. She was also third in the 1000 meters (3:16.37). Lisa Jones (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was second in the 1000 meters (3:14.93) and third in the one mile (5:34.65). Liz Guarini (so. Steinertville, NJ/Steinert) captured third in the 3000 meters (11:34.52). Tamara Jones (so. Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) had a second place in the 400 meters (1:00.23). Heidi DeGuzman (fr. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) came in third in the 60 meter dash (8.06), while Tamara Jones was seventh (8.24). Alli Catenacci (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) placed third in the 500 meters with a time of 1:25.15.

In the 800 meters, Lori Oglesby (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Buena Reg.) took fourth place (2:42.08). Amira Abdullah (fr. Erial, NJ/Timber Creek) came in fourth in the 500 meters (1:25.68). Rose Johnson (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Holy Cross) tied for sixth in the high jump with 4’ 9” (1.45 meters) and was eighth in the 60 meter hurdles (10.39). Amira Muneer (fr. Ewing, NJ/Ewing) finished eighth (1:02.44) and ninth (8.29) in the 400 meters and 60 meter dash respectively. Laura O’Mara (jr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) captured fifth place in the 3000 meters (11:57.19), while Michelle Esten (fr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) was eighth in the one mile (6:10.40).

The women’s 4x400 meter relay came in third place with a time of 4:14.91. The relay was comprised of DeGuzman, Muneer, Catenacci and Tamara Jones. The men’s 4x800 meter relay took third place in 8:32.91. Nick Huddy (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.), Matt Crosta (fr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Jake McCormack (fr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) and Greg Kuczynski (sr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) made up the team.

Jeff Terebey (so. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) finished second in the 5000 meters (16:58.04). Daniel Collier (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) was third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.47. Kevin Gauntt (jr. Marlton, NJ/Seneca) came in fourth in the 60 meter hurdles (8.84), followed by Nehemiah Burney-Porter (jr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) fifth (8.91). Kyle Hayes (so. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) had a fourth place in the long jump with 22’ 1.5” (6.74 meters).

In the 3000 meters, Brian Quilty (so. Brick, NJ/Saint Rose) was sixth (9:31.82). Jason Yanchuk (jr. Somerset, NJ/Franklin) took seventh in the shot put with a throw of 42’ (12.80 meters). Julius Grayson (fr. Hempstead, NY/Hempstead) finished ninth in the 200 meters (23.32). Mike Rivera (sr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) placed 10th in the one mile (4:39.92).

Rowan travels to Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA for the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday, February 7 at 9 a.m.
