POMONA, NJ – Five players scored in double figures to lead Richard Stockton College to an 83-62 victory over visiting Rowan University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday.
The Ospreys, ranked 13th in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, improve to 16-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference. The Profs have a 9-10 record with a 2-5 NJAC mark.
Richard Stockton was led by forward Jerome Hubbard (sr. Neptune, NJ/Neptune) with 21 points. He was seven for 11 from the field, including six of 10 from beyond the three-point arc. Guard Michael Farrow (so. Whitesboro, NJ/Middle Twp.) added 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Guard Santini Lancioni (jr. Runnemede, NJ/Paul VI) and forward Omar Smith (jr. Newark, NJ/Central) contributed with 13 points apiece. Smith also grabbed six boards, while Lancioni dished 10 assists. Forward Isham Poe (jr. Westville, NJ/Deptford) was also in double digits with 10 points.
For Rowan, guard Dan Reddan (sr. Brick, NJ/Brick Twp.) totaled 16 points and six rebounds. Forward Tim Cook (jr. Willingboro, NJ/Glassboro) posted 15 points and six boards. Forward Steve Secula (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) compiled nine points and five rebounds.
In the first half, Farrow’s jumper at 6:31 put the Ospreys up by five (19-14). Reddan connected on two free throws at 5:30 to bring the Profs within three points (19-16). Lancioni made a three-pointer (4:43) and a layup (4:03) and Hubbard nailed a three (3:48) to make the score 27-16. Hubbard sunk another three-pointer with 59 seconds left to give Richard Stockton its largest advantage of the half (35-23). The Ospreys were ahead 36-25 at the intermission.
Farrow’s three-pointer at 17:23 in the second increased the lead to 17 points (46-29). Richard Stockton was up 52-36 after a layup by Poe at 14:39. Rowan had a 7-1 run to pull within 10 (53-43) at the 13:29 mark. Secula had four of the seven points. His layup at 10:41 cut the deficit to nine (58-49). Richard Stockton rattled off 10 straight points over the next 3:39 to lead by 19 (68-49). Lancioni and Farrow each nailed a three-pointer in the surge. The Ospreys’ largest lead of the game was 28 points (81-53) with 3:08 remaining.
Rowan hosts Rutgers-Newark in a NJAC contest on Saturday, January 24 at 3 p.m. Richard Stockton travels to New Jersey City University on Saturday for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
