ABINGTON, PA – The Rowan University men’s basketball team had a 92-41 victory over Penn State Abington in a nonconference game on Monday night.

Rowan improves to 8-8, while Penn State Abington is 3-9. The Profs were led by forward Tyson Hartnett (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) with 17 points. Forward Tim Cook (jr. Willingboro, NJ/Glassboro) compiled 16 points and seven rebounds. Guard Sean Hughes (so. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) and forward Gary Foster (fr. Neptune, NJ/Neptune) added 12 and 10 points respectively. Foster pulled down seven boards. Guards Aaron Spellman (sr. Pine Hill, NJ/St. Joseph’s (Hammonton)) and Dan Reddan (sr. Brick, NJ/Brick Twp.) contributed with nine points apiece.

For the Lions, guard Mike Carroll scored 14 points. Guard Corey Curtis was also in double figures with 12 points. Guard Ben Moore totaled nine points.

In the first period, the Profs led by five points (14-9) following a three-pointer by Carroll at 13:51. Rowan scored the next 12 points to go ahead 26-9 with 10:37 on the clock. Reddan scored five points in the run. Curtis’ three-pointer at 6:31 cut the deficit to nine (32-23). The Profs closed out the half with a 16-5 surge to lead 48-28 at the intermission. Hartnett scored six points in the final 6:06. He had a game-high 13 points at the break. Curtis recorded 11 points for Penn State Abington.

Rowan was up 51-30 at 19:11 in the second. The Profs outscored the Lions 18-2 over the next 6:20 to make the score 69-32 with 12:51 remaining. Cook posted 10 points, while Hartnett added four. Rowan’s largest lead of the game was 51 points at 1:44 (89-38) and with 53 seconds left (92-41).

Rowan hosts The College of New Jersey in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday, January 14 at 8 p.m.
