Greene Scores Game Winner in 2-1 Victory at Montclair State

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Forward Amanda Greene scored the winning goal for the Rowan University field hockey team in a 2-1 victory at conference opponent Montclair State University on Saturday evening.

Greene (sr. Thorofare, NJ/Gloucester) knocked in a rebound for the game winner at 49:31. It was her eighth goal on the year. The loss was the first of the season for the 12th ranked Red Hawks. MSU is 8-1 overall and 0-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Rowan, ranked seventh, improves to 5-2 and 2-0 in the conference.

Forward Lauren Ross (so. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester) got the Profs on the scoreboard first at 5:25. Ross deflected in a shot by midfielder Kacey Ehret (jr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood). Five minutes later, back Jenna Gallo (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) scored the tying goal off a rebound.

Montclair State out shot Rowan, 11-8. The Red Hawks’ goalie Emina Udrjia (sr. West Paterson, NJ/Passaic Valley) made four saves. Goalie Lisa Apt (fr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) stopped eight shots for the Profs.

This week, Rowan hosts Stevens Tech on Wednesday, October 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Eastern University on Saturday, October 4 at noon.
