ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Rowan University women’s cross country team took 10th place out of 15 schools at the Salty Sea Dog Invitational on Saturday. The men’s cross country team was 11th overall among 14 institutions at the Navy Invitational.
Both meets were held at the U.S. Naval Academy. Richmond University captured the women’s team title and the men’s was won by host Navy. The women’s course was 6K while the men’s distance was 8K.
The Rowan women were led by Jena Peacock (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) who finished 49th in 24:46. Angela Patane (sr. Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) came in 86th (26:29) and Lisa Jones (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was 87th (26:31). Also scoring were Michelle Esten (fr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.), 94th (26:57) and Eileen O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.), 105th (27:23).
The men’s top runner was Greg Kuczynski (sr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) in 47th place with a time of 27:10.10. Mike Rivera (sr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) came in 66th (27:41.70) and Eric DuBois (fr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) was 76th (28:00.80). Dan Ratty (sr. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) finished 91st (28:40.30) and Brian Quilty (so. Brick, NJ/Saint Rose) followed in 96th place (28:48.40).
Rowan travels to Newark, DE for the Delaware Invitational on Saturday, September 20 that starts at 10:30 a.m.
