CORAM, NY – The Rowan University men’s soccer team won 2-0 over host St. Joseph’s College (LI) on Thursday night.

Backs Frans Crul (fr. Heemstede, Netherlands/Stedelijk Gymnasium Haarlem) and Zach Zahrend (fr. Seaville, NJ/Ocean City) each scored a goal. Rowan improves to 3-2 overall while St. Joseph’s drops to 0-4 on the season.

Both of the Profs’ goals came in the first half. Crul had the first one at 21:32 with an assist from forward Mike Pascale (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) and midfielder Jake Dunn (so. Vineland, NJ/Sacred Heart). Zahrend scored the second goal at 35:57. Midfielder Jay Vigilante (sr. Manasquan, NJ/Wall) and forward Frank Renna (fr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) each picked up an assist.

Rowan ended the game with 13 shots while St. Joseph’s took nine. In the Profs’ net, Joel Sanger (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) stopped six shots for his third shutout of the year. For the Golden Eagles, Mike Dougherty (jr. Farmingville, NY/Connetquot) made eight saves.

Rowan is back home on Monday, September 15 against Immaculata University at 7 p.m.
