POMONA, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team blanked Immaculata University, 7-0 at the second day of the Stockton Classic on Saturday.
Rowan improves to 2-0, while Immaculata has a 0-2 record. On Friday, Rowan defeated Misericordia University, 7-0 and host Richard Stockton College topped Immaculata, 7-0.
For the Profs, midfielder Veronica Rhea (fr. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) and forward Kate Harman (jr. Laurel Springs, NJ/Sterling) recorded one goal and one assist apiece. Forwards Michelle Carrocino (so. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) and Mandy Silvesti (jr. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) and midfielders Holly Bundy (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) and Colleen Uff (so. Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Twp.) each scored one goal. Midfielder Leah Carney (fr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) added one assist.
Rowan out shot Immaculata, 34-0. Goalkeepers Sarah Volkomer (jr. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) and Jillian Brannan (fr. Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) combined for the shutout. For Immaculata, goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo () made 16 saves.
Rowan had an own goal off of a corner kick at 8:24 in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. At 18:52, Carrocino had an unassisted goal, giving the Profs a 2-0 halftime advantage. In the second stanza, Rhea put back a feed from Carney at 49:24. Silvesti scored on a pass from Rhea at 55:56 and Bundy had an unassist goal at 67:36 to put Rowan ahead 5-0. Uff found the net at 76:40 off of a pass from Harman, who had an unassisted goal with 10 seconds remaining.
Rowan hosts York College (PA) in its home opener on Saturday, September 6 at 7 p.m.
