GLASSBORO, NJ – Back Zack Zahrend and forward Dan Coviello each scored two goals to lead Rowan University to a 5-0 victory over Hunter College on the first day of the Harrison House Invitational.

Forward Brandon Klaas (fr. Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen) scored the Profs’ other goal. Midfielders Jay Vigilante (sr. Manasquan, NJ/Wall) and Phil Mora (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) and backs Frans Crul (fr. Heemstede, Netherlands/Stedelijk Gymnasium Haarlem) and Eric Campesi (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) tallied one assist apiece.

Rowan out shot Hunter, 21-5. Goalkeeper Joel Sanger (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) made one save for his first shutout. For the Hawks, goalkeeper Noah Fessler (sr. Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen) turned away three shots.

Zahrend knocked in a cross from Vigilante at 6:50 in the first period to give the Profs a 1-0 halftime lead. In the second stanza at 61:26, Zahrend scored his second goal to put Rowan up 2-0. At 69:35, Coviello found the net off a rebounded shot by Crul that hit the crossbar. Campesi connected on a long pass to Coviello, who scored on a breakaway to give Rowan a 4-0 advantage at 73:04. Klaas headed in a feed from Mora at 80:30 to end the scoring.

Earlier on Saturday, Ithaca College defeated Medgar Evers College, 4-0. On Sunday, Ithaca will face Hunter at 3 p.m., followed by Rowan against Medgar Evers at 5:30 p.m.
