GRANTHAM, PA – Attack Caitlin Meseroll scored four goals to lead Rowan University over host Messiah College, 14-8 on Tuesday.
Meseroll (sr. Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Twp.) also had one assist. Midfielder Ali Goodman (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and attack Lauren Crennan (jr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) each contributed with three goals. Midfielder Kerry O’Donnell (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) added two goals. Midfielders Trish Harrington (fr. Suffern, NY/Suffern) and Carly Welsh (jr. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) both had one goal while attack Stacie McKinley (jr. Seaville, NJ/Ocean City) chipped in with an assist.
For Messiah, attack Kara Geiman (fr. Westminister, MD/Winters Mill) recorded six goals. Midfielder Bethany Moskevitz (sr. Georgetown, MA/Peabody) and attack Jessica Van Hook (sr. Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) both scored once. Moskevitz also had two assists and midfielder Megan Bovenz (fr. Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) had one.
Rowan is 8-2 overall with a seven game win streak. Messiah drops to 4-5 on the season. The Falcons took 32 shots and the Profs had 27. Rowan goalie Alicia Mannino (jr. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) made 20 saves. Messiah goalie Jen Venter (jr. Crownsville, MD/Annapolis Christian) stopped six shots.
The Profs went up 3-0 in the first 6:11 of the game with goals by Harrington, Crennan and Meseroll. Geiman made it 3-1 at 8:13 with an unassisted goal. Goodman’s goal (14:57) put Rowan ahead 4-1. Messiah’s second goal (17:16) was by Geiman with an assist from Moskevitz. Crennan had an unassisted goal at 18:47 that made the score 6-2. Geiman hit the net at 19:25 for Messiah’s last goal of the half. Rowan scored three straight for a 9-3 advantage at the intermission. Crennan and Goodman both scored on free positions and O’Donnell had the last goal.
In the second half, twice the Falcons pulled within four goals. It was when Geiman had goals at 32:40 (9-5) and at 50:33 (11-7). Meseroll and Welsh each found the Messiah net to lead 13-7. At 53:31. Van Hook had the last Falcons’ goal with 1:24 remaining and Meseroll scored on a free position with 27 seconds left.
Rowan hosts Eastern University on Thursday, April 10 at 6 p.m. and FDU-Florham on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
