GLASSBORO, NJ – Midfielder Carly Welsh scored the game-winning goal with 16 seconds remaining to give Rowan University a 12-11 win over FDU-Florham on Saturday.

The game was tied (8-8) at 45:20 in the second half. FDU-Florham got goals from midfielder Erin Reilly (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and attack Amanda Wayne (jr. Bellport, NY/Bellport) for a 10-8 advantage at 49:12. Attack Ali Goodman’s (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) unassisted goal at 53:29 brought Rowan within one (10-9). Wayne added a goal at 55:52 to put the Devils back up by two (11-9). The Profs had a free position goal by attack Alli Dickey (fr. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) (56:57) and an unassisted goal from attack Alayna Morris (so. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.) (58:45) to tie the score at 11-11.

Both teams have a 10-2 record. Rowan has won its last nine games. The Profs were led by Goodman with a career-high seven goals. Welsh (jr. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) added three goals and Morris had one goal and one assist. Dickey scored once, while attacks Stacie McKinley (jr. Seaville, NJ/Ocean City) and Caitlin Meseroll (sr. Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Twp.) each recorded one assist.

For the Devils, Wayne posted four goals and one assist. Midfielder Lindsey Specht (sr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) followed with three goals. Midfielder Laura Gambardello (jr. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken), attacks Linda Bohn (so. Vernon, NJ/Vernon Twp.) and Kristen Schuster (so. Centereach, NY/Centereach) and Reilly contributed with one goal apiece.

FDU-Florham took 28 shots, while Rowan had 24. Goalie Alicia Mannino (jr. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) made nine saves for the Profs. Devils’ goalie Christine Dunn (jr. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) stopped six shots.

Specht scored on a feed from Wayne 17 seconds into the first half to give FDU-Florham a 1-0 lead. Goodman had two straight goals to put Rowan up 2-1 at 9:12. Specht and Wayne scored back-to-back goals at 11:15 and 12:57 respectively to give the Devils a 3-2 advantage. Goodman’s goal at 14:38 tied the score at three. Wayne (20:58) and Specht (23:34) each had a goal to go ahead by two (5-3). Goodman found the net at 25:29 and Gambardello had a goal at 27:26 to make the score 6-4. Goodman got her fifth goal with six seconds left, making it 6-5 at the intermission.

In the second period, Schuster had an unassisted goal at 31:20 to give the Devils a 7-5 advantage. Rowan had two straight goals from Welsh to tie the score at seven. At 45:05, Bohn found the back of the net. Goodman scored 15 seconds later to tie the game (8-8).
