Fifth Ranked Gettysburg Defeats Visiting Rowan, 17-6

GETTYSBURG, PA – The Gettysburg College women’s lacrosse team defeated visiting Rowan University, 17-6 on Saturday afternoon.

Gettysburg is undefeated with a 6-0 record and ranked fifth in this week’s Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Poll. The Bullets were led by midfielders Jessica Crane and Megan Moore each with four goals. Attack Hollis Stahl contributed with three goals while midfielders Katie Ceglarski and Cristi Farrell added two apiece. Attack Krissy Browning and midfielder Lexie Hearn both scored once. Attack Jamie Giffuni totaled four assists and Celgarski had two.

For the Profs, attack Lauren Crennan (jr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) scored two goals while attacks Caitlin Meseroll (sr. Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Twp.), Stacie McKinley (jr. Seaville, NJ/Ocean City, NJ) and Tori Hart (so. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and midfielder Kelly Angstadt (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had one apiece. Crennan and Meseroll both assisted on one goal. Rowan is 1-2 on the season.

Gettysburg outshot Rowan, 37-22. In the Bullets’ goal, Kristen Krammer made 10 saves and compiled 15 ground balls. Profs’ goalie Alicia Mannino (jr. Richboro, NJ/Conwell-Egan Catholic) turned away 10 shots. The Bullets recorded 32 ground balls and Rowan had 26.

Ceglarski started the scoring on a pass from Giffuni, 33 seconds into the game. Hart tied it up for the Profs eight minutes later. Gettysburg then had four straight goals to lead 5-1 with 8:09 remaining. Crane, Ceglarski, Browning and Moore each hit the net. The two teams would exchange goals three times to end the half and Gettysburg was ahead 8-4.

The Bullets opened the second period with four unanswered goals to lead by eight (12-4). Crane scored the first three goals and Stahl had the fourth. Meseroll followed with an unassisted goal with 12:16 left. Stahl found the net twice which made the score, 14-5. The Bullets had two goals by Farrell and one by Hearn to lead 17-5. McKinley scored the final goal of the game with an assist from Crennan.

Rowan will play its next game in St. Petersburg, FL on Monday, March 17 against Plymouth State College at 11 a.m.
