COLLEGEVILLE, PA – Rowan University came from behind to defeat Ursinus College, 12-11 on Tuesday night.
Midfielder Lindsay Fry’s (fr. Mountain Lakes, NJ/Morristown-Beard) goal with 3:28 left put Ursinus ahead by one (11-10). Crennan put back a feed from Dickey with 2:46 remaining to tie the game (11-11). Meseroll scored the game-winner with 2:08 on the clock.
Rowan (4-2) was led by Crennan with five goals. Meseroll and Welsh contributed with two goals apiece. Dickey added one goal and two assists, while Goodman and Valianti each had one goal and one assist. Attack Tori Hart (so. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) chipped in with one assist.
For Ursinus (2-4), Glenn totaled three goals and Cannon had two goals and two assists. Urban found the net twice, while midfielders Emma Bacharach (fr. Lancaster, PA/J.P. McCaskey) and Lisa Clark (jr. Media, PA/Penncrest), Cameron and Fry each scored once. Attack Stephanie Kaysen (sr. Media, PA/Penncrest) added one assist.
Both teams took 26 shots. Goalie Alicia Mannino (jr. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) made 10 saves in the Profs’ net. Goalie Allyson Shicora (sr. Media, PA/Strath Haven) stopped 12 shots for the Bears.
Ursinus had a 5-2 halftime advantage. Midfielder Elizabeth Cannon’s (so. Garrison, NY/James I. O’Neil) goal at 31:58 gave the Bears a 6-2 lead. Attacks Lauren Crennan (jr. Pottstown, NJ/Owen J. Roberts) and Caitlin Meseroll (sr. Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Twp.) and midfielder Nicole Valianti (fr. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood) each had a goal to bring the Profs within one (6-5) at 36:07. Ursinus went back up by three (8-5) following goals by midfielders Kaitlin Glenn (sr. Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) and Lindsey Urban (fr. Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks E.).
Rowan tied the game at eight with three straight goals. Midfielder Ali Goodman (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape), Alli Dickey (fr. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) and Crennan each found the net once. Attack Catie Cameron (jr. Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) and Glenn had back-to-back goals to put the Bears back up by two (10-8). Crennan scored at 52:08 and midfielder Carly Welsh (jr. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) followed with a goal at 53:28 to tie the game at 10.
In the first period, Crennan had a free position goal at 1:28 to give Rowan a 1-0 lead. Cannon answered with a goal at 7:25 to tie the score (1-1). Welsh’s goal at 8:23 put the Profs up 2-1. Ursinus closed out the half with four straight goals for a 5-2 advantage. Clark, Urban, Bacharach and Glenn had one goal apiece.
