GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s lacrosse team defeated Washington College (MD), 12-10 on Thursday night.

The Profs improve to 3-2, while the Shorewomen have a 4-3 record. Rowan was led by attack Caitlin Meseroll (sr. Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Twp.) with five goals. Attack Stacie McKinley (jr. Seaville, NJ/Ocean City) added three goals and one assist. Attack Lauren Crennan (jr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and midfielders Carly Welsh (jr. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) each found the net twice. Midfielder Kelly Angstadt (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) recorded one assist.

For Washington, midfielder Jenna Gouck (sr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) totaled three goals and two assists. Midfielder Lindsay Fox (sr. Laurel, MD/Atholton) and attack Liz Cumberpatch (fr. Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) both scored two goals. Attack Suzie Jakub (jr. University Park, MD/St. John’s College (DC)) contributed with one goal and one assist. Attack Sarah Cannon (fr. Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) and midfielder Brittany Lambert (jr. Riva, MD/South River) chipped in with one goal apiece.

Washington took 24 shots, while Rowan had 23. Goalie Alicia Mannino (jr. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) made 11 saves in the Profs’ net. Goalie Amber Moore (fr. Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) turned away seven shots for the Shorewomen.

Rowan went ahead 4-0 at 11:04. Meseroll and McKinley each had two goals. Jakub got Washington on the scoreboard with a goal at 13:05. After the teams exchanged goals, Meseroll and Crennan each found the net to give the Profs a 7-2 advantage at 19:13. Fox’s goal at 19:48 made the score 7-3. McKinley and Meseroll each added a goal to close out the half. Rowan was up 9-3 at the intermission.

In the second half, Meseroll’s goal at 33:17 gave the Profs a 10-3 lead. Cumberpatch and Lambert both scored to cut the deficit to five (10-5) at 36:29. Crennan had a goal for Rowan at 36:54. Gouck and Fox had back-to-back goals to bring the Shorewomen within four (11-7). Welsh added an unassisted goal at 44:28 to make the score 12-7. Washington closed out the game with two goals from Gouck and one from Cumberpatch, but Rowan held on for the win.

Rowan travels to Ursinus College on Tuesday, March 25 at 4:30 p.m.
