COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University men’s and women’s indoor track teams competed at the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday at Ursinus College. The Rowan men finished sixth and the women were 11th overall.

Kyle Hayes (fr. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) won the long jump with a leap of 22’ 7.75” (6.90 meters). It was the third time this season he recorded a NCAA provisional (6.96 meters). His best provisional of 7.10 meters came at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 18). Hayes also finished sixth in the 200 meters (23.55) and seventh in the 55 meter dash (6.78).

Brian Makinson (fr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) took fourth place in the high jump with 5’ 11.5” (1.82 meters). Nick Tyson (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) came in fifth in the pole vault with a height of 12’ 11.5” (3.95 meters). Kevin Gauntt (so. Delanco, NJ/Seneca) had a fifth place in the 55 meter hurdles (8.43).

Mike Rivera (jr. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) finished fifth in the mile run with a time of 4:33.29. Rivera was 10th in the 800 meters (2:07.42) followed by Dan Collier (so. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) 11th (2:07.81) and Nick Huddy (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) 12th (2:07.98). Andrew Vasta (jr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) took sixth in the 1,000 meters (2:49.77). The 4x800 meter relay had a time of 8:29.98 for third place. The relay included Collier, Huddy, Vasta and Steven Rosado (fr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland).

For the women, Dannielle Warren (jr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) came in third in the long jump with 17’ 2.25” (5.24 meters). Angela Patane (jr. Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) had a sixth place in the 1,000 meters (3:27.24) and she was seventh in the 3,000 meters (11:06.26). Allison Catenacci (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) finished seventh in the 1,000 meters (3:30.95). Heather Carbone (fr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) was 10th in the 800 meters (2:44.93).

Next week, Rowan travels to Yale University on Sunday, February 10 for the Collegiate Track Conference Championships that start at noon.
